It’s been a busy summer at Seven Twelve Books. Since the June release of The Alphabet Lovers, work has continued on not one, but three upcoming novels. One is nearly ready for an editor, another introduces a new Seven Twelve Books author, and the third is taking us somewhere considerably more comedic.
Liam Is Heading to Editing
The manuscript for Liam’s Lyrics (To the Song of His Life) has come a long way since Darran Smith finished that first draft earlier this summer. The next step is getting it into the hands of an editor, which we hope to do later this month.
If everything stays reasonably on schedule, we’re tentatively planning to release Liam’s Lyrics on December 7, 2026.
The cover design process hasn’t begun yet, so we don’t have that to share—but we can give you a look inside the book.

Meet Ellis Ford—and The Consigliere
Seven Twelve Books is growing, and that means making room for different kinds of stories. Ellis Ford joins the Seven Twelve Books lineup with stories that explore complicated people, questionable decisions, and the relationships that form when things don’t go according to plan.
Ford prefers to keep a low profile and let the stories speak for themselves. His first novel with Seven Twelve Books is The Consigliere, currently planned for release in Spring 2027.
When seventeen-year-old Ricky Alvarez impulsively steals a mysterious flash drive, he turns to Damon Wilson—the brilliant classmate secretly crushing on him—for help cracking it. What begins as a scheme for easy money pulls them into a dangerous world of corporate espionage, organized crime, and a partnership that will change both their lives.
There’s much more to come from Ricky and Damon as the manuscript develops. We’ll share more about The Consigliere—and perhaps a little more about the deliberately elusive Ellis Ford—as the book gets closer to publication.
And Then There’s Andre...
Darran Smith is also working on What Had Happened..., a new novel that takes a considerably more comedic turn. Pun very much intended.
After sixteen years as a stay-at-home husband and father, Andre Bennett takes an impulsive right turn after school drop-off and accidentally begins the wildest week of his life. With a borrowed cat at his side, Andre’s increasingly ridiculous journey takes him from a courtroom in Maryland to national television, a drag performance, and eventually a game show in Los Angeles—all while reminding him that loving his family doesn’t mean there can’t be room in his life for himself.
There’s no release date for this one yet. Andre has apparently decided we should just follow him and see where he goes.
