A Great Conversation About The Alphabet Lovers

Darran Smith had a great time joining members of The Writing Owl Bookstore’s Queer Book Club to talk about The Alphabet Lovers.

The conversation brought thoughtful questions, insightful observations, and some great feedback from readers who had spent time with Marcos and his story. There’s something particularly rewarding about hearing what readers noticed, what resonated with them, and—occasionally—what they saw in the story that even Darran hadn’t considered.

Liam Gets the Spotlight

Readers of The Alphabet Lovers might remember that Liam Riordan had quite an impact on Marcos. Apparently, he had quite an impact on some readers, too—enough that author Darran Smith decided to turn his attention to the Irish rock star and tell his story.

According to Darran, Liam’s Lyrics (To the Song of His Life) follows Liam from an inseparable childhood friendship and the rise of their band through devastating loss, an unexpected comeback, and a love he never planned for. The second book in The Alphabet Lovers series reveals the life that eventually brings Liam and Marcos together.

Darran recently finished the first draft. He tells us there’s still plenty of editing ahead, but he’s happy with the bones of the story and the journey Liam takes throughout it. For now, he’s taking a few days to enjoy reaching the milestone before jumping back into editing and refining.

It sounds like Liam has quite a story to tell. We think you’re going to enjoy spending more time with him.
